The Compass for Homebuilding Innovations Comes from Millennials

It's no secret that Millennials delay many major life decisions-marriage, starting a family-by about 4 years. This is not borne of lack of ambition, but a more thoughtful approach to some of those decisions.

This has a significant impact on homeownership, as these decisions are often the driving factors for many to commit to a home. The full effect of this trend is yet to be felt: Millennials currently represent about a third of today's homeowners. Within the next 10 years, however, they are projected to own half of the housing stock.

Understanding Mortgage Rates: How the Federal Funds Rate Affects Mortgage Rates

Eight times every year, the Federal Reserve's Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meets to discuss and possibly alter their position on monetary policy. There are several different courses of action they could take, the most common being quantitative easing, buying and selling government securities, and raising or lowering the federal funds rate.

Most recently, the fed's tool of choice has been adjusting the federal funds rate. As we approach the FOMC's December meeting, there's a lot of hype about that rate going higher, with the fed funds futures giving it a 92.7% chance of rising.

What to Expect in Washington for 2017

With the elections behind us, and Congress finishing up work for the year, attention is turning to what to expect with a new president and a new Congress in 2017. One of the first items on the agenda in the new year will be increasing the debt limit that allows the federal government to continue borrowing to meet its existing financial obligations. On a related topic, Congress could look to reform the budget process and may consider a comprehensive reform of the tax code.

Raising the debt ceiling, a vote Congress has historically done grudgingly, in recent years has been very difficult. Members of Congress have used votes on debt ceiling increases as leverage in reaching an agreement on funding the federal government.

A total of 5.1% of single-family and condo sales during the third quarter were home flipped, down from 5.6% last quarter.

ALL TREATED WOOD WARRANTIES ARE NOT THE SAME!

Viance Viance's warranty coverage includes Above Ground treated wood framing members that are critical to the safety and performance of the structure, including joists and beams. Recent modifications to the AWPA standards have created confusion, and the misconception that all deck framing must be Ground Contact treated; this simply isn't true.

Above Ground treatments remain code compliant for framing, including joists and beams, and should meet customers safety and performance expectations without introducing excessive chemicals into the environment, or to potentially increase costs unnecessarily. Compare other warranties to see for yourself.
