CanWel acquires Hawaii’s Honsador Building Products

CanWel Building Materials Group Ltd., of Vancouver, British Columbia, has announced it will purchase Honsador Building Products, Hawaii’s largest pressure-treated wood supplier, for $80 million in cash.

Honsador Lumber started its business in 1935 as a millwork and sash and door company on the island of Oahu. The company now has 14 locations around the Hawaiian Islands, and one in Portland, Ore.

Founded in 1989, CanWel is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is Canada’s only fully integrated national distributor in the building materials and related products sector.

CanWel operates multiple treating plants and planing facilities in Canada and the United States, and operates distribution centers in all major cities and strategic locations across Canada, and near San Francisco and Los Angeles, California.
