Carter Lumber announced Thursday that the group has expanded into Tennessee. The Knoxville location will be a centrally located 10-acre facility six miles from downtown. Focused exclusively on professional builder customers, the location will begin making deliveries during the moth of May.

Carter-Lumber-Opens-Tennessee-Location“We’re very excited to expand into Tennessee with this new location as we continue our mission to be the number one lumber and building materials dealer in every market we service,” said Jeff Donley, President & COO of Carter Lumber said in a statement released on the company’s website. “Knoxville is a great area. It has a robust economy and a strong housing market; one that we believe will continue to grow. As I’ve said in the past, we are going to seize every opportunity we can to grow our business by adding new locations in markets that fit our business model.”

This is the sixth new location the company has opened since the start of 2014. The privately-held, family-owned company was opened in 1932 and now has 140 locations across 12 states in the Midwest and Southeast.

The new location in Knoxville will be under the management of Brian Massie, Vice President of the Southeast, who is currently responsible for many of the company’s Southern Markets, including Atlanta, Charlotte, Winston-Salem and Greenville. Glenn Holston, a 20-year veteran of the lumber industry, has been chosen to assemble and lead the sales force for the Knoxville Metropolitan area.
