Do it Best Corp.’s Divisional Manager Joe Corah, Vice President of Lumber & Building Materials Gary Nackers, and Divisional Manager Todd Hixon provide LBM industry updates at the company’s Fall Market.

INDIANAPOLIS — Do it Best Corp.’s Fall Market, held October 12-16 in Indianapolis, included an LBM Industry Update, which delivered the latest information on lumber and building materials. Jean Fahy, Divisional Manager for Building Material Sales moderated a panel discussion featuring Gary Nackers, Vice President of Lumber & Building Materials, and Divisional Managers Joe Corah and Todd Hixon. The impact of the devastating hurricanes in Texas and Florida, and the wildfires in California, were key topics of discussion.

Corah discussed the pricing and availability pressures on drywall, insulation, roofing and other materials. In addition to discussing the demand and pricing of engineered lumber products, Hixon gave an update on the negotiations surrounding the Softwood Lumber Agreement between Canada and the U.S. The message: a volatile market can mean volatile pricing and availability, so LBM dealers are encouraged to make sure they have a solid handle on their inventory levels.

Fahy discussed Do it Best’s new LBM School, scheduled for March 6-8, was created especially for the growing number of Do it Best members who are adding lumber and building materials to their mix.

Friday was pegged as Education Day at Do it Best Corp.’s Fall Market. Sessions included Fraud Prevention: Is Money Walking Out Your Door?; How to make Google and Siri Send Buying Customers Into your Store—For Free!; and Focus, Fire and Drive: Creating a Team-Centric, Energized Workplace.
