True Value Store Brings Lumber Back to ND Town

True ValueWhen the Simonson Lumber location closed in April, 2014, the small town of Grafton, N.D. was without a lumberyard.

Until this weekend, when Grafton True Value has expands to include lumber by moving into the former Simonson Lumber building.

Owners Kerry and Carole Demars told the Grand Forks Herald that they had been thinking about expanding since the closing of the Simonson store, which also was a True Value hardware franchise. The Simonson store had been in Grafton for 83 years and invested about $2 million into rebuilding after a 1994 fire destroyed the business, the paper reports.

True Value gained about 6,000 square feet of space, plus the outbuildings, when it moved to its new location, Kerry Demars told the Herald in a story announcing this week’s grand opening event.
