PITTSBURGH—Addressing supply and demand in one unified initiative, Versatex Building Products, LLC, has launched a sales-force recruiting campaign coupled with a plant expansion and a significant increase in manufacturing capacity.

“With residential/light commercial builders, building-material distributors, lumber dealers and architects across the U.S.A. accelerating their demand for our PVC trim products, we believe the time is right for our next plant expansion,” Versatex CEO John Pace said today. “At the same time, we want to increase the support we give our dealer network by positioning sales and market development personnel in markets where they can assist our dealers in expanding their PVC trim sales and associated product margins.”

Already underway is the fourth major capital expansion of the flagship Versatex facility in Aliquippa, Pa. just northwest of Pittsburgh, which was constructed in 2007/2008. “When completed later this year, our 45,000-square-foot addition will be able to house enough extrusion capacity to meet the needs of a growing housing market, while also more than doubling our current output,” Pace said.

White Paper: Combat Industry Disruptors with Data

LBM dealers and distributors must become data driven and analytics savvy. Here's how to transform your business to be analytics and customer focused.

“With industry-best lead times of two weeks or less, we pride ourselves on staying ahead of the curve. The expansion will enable us to meet customer demand, at our traditional high level of service, for years to come.”

Meanwhile, the company this week unveiled a talent search for a significant number of new sales representatives, who will be tasked with pull-through demand creation. “Experience shows that once we expose builders, remodelers and architects to the Versatex value story, they’re favorably impressed,” said Sales and Marketing Vice President Rick Kapres. “Putting more ‘feet on the street’ will allow us to expedite the conversion of a broader group of cellular PVC trim users.”

Kapres explained that these Market Development Specialists will be placed in highly populated geographic areas in the eastern half of the country. “Our goal is to support our high-quality stocking dealer network by assisting them in the growth of their Versatex PVC trim sales with the help of our talented and highly trained sales specialists. These individuals will work with builders, remodelers and architects to educate them in the ways that Versatex trim solutions will help them “trim smarter.”
