WeatherSmart® Drainable by Fortifiber®
Building upon WeatherSmart’s award-winning reputation, Fortifiber Building Systems Group introduces WeatherSmart Drainable, a scientifically-advanced weather-resistive barrier incorporating patented technology that delivers exceptional drainage performance.
WeatherSmart represented a revolutionary step in housewrap technology, offering architects, specifiers and builders a smart housewrap solution – one that delivers the ideal balance between breathability and water protection, so it can be used in any climate and behind most exterior claddings. WeatherSmart Drainable takes it to the next level by adding patented technology that actually channels liquid away from the wall assembly with greater than 95% efficiency.
“For years we have sold the popular HydroTex™ two-ply drainable product so we know this market well,” said Chris Yount, President of Fortifiber Corporation. “With WeatherSmart Drainable, we are able to complete our offering with a world class single layer solution.”
WeatherSmart Drainable’s unique channeling feature actually directs liquid away from the wall assembly and to the ground, keeping your structure dry. With a perm rating of 15, the WeatherSmart Drainable design provides architects and builders with the ideal level of vapor permeability – so it’s the smart choice behind most claddings, such as fiber cement, brick, vinyl and wood siding. Combined with superior water resistance, WeatherSmart Drainable protects buildings from mold, rot, and structural failure for years to come.
WeatherSmart Drainable is quick and easy to install thanks to its patented, cloth-like non-woven material that resists tears, abrasions and punctures. It is made from spunbonded polypropylene fabric with a non-perforated breathable polymer layer, and is embossed for drainage efficiency. Its design also provides a highly reliable air infiltration barrier that is incredibly UV stable.
Made in the USA and protected by a 10-year limited warranty, it is available in 5’, 9’ and 10′ wide rolls by 125 lineal feet.
The product is part of a complete Moisture Control System for walls engineered by the Fortifiber Building Systems Group, which has been chosen by builders and architects to protect over five million homes and commercial buildings from the problems caused by water intrusion. When integrated into the building envelope, our products help manage and eliminate moisture-related problems – including water-related structural failures, mold and mildew.
