Do it Best Corp. Unveils New In-Store Paint Experience

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — Do it Best Corp. used its spring market, which kicked off last week in Indianapolis, to help its member-owners raise the bar with their paint department.

The co-op unveiled The Color Bar, a re-envisioned in-store experience for the paint department. With a core focus on building customers’ confidence in their color and product selection—offered in a range of flexible configurations—the new program is available to all Do it Best Corp. members.

In addition to scalability for different store floor plans, The Color Bar offers members a number of other key features, including a female-friendly consumer-focused layout, interchangeable call-outs for trending colors, product line flexibility, and cross-merchandising opportunities. The program is designed to keep implementation costs low so that any member can affordably upgrade their paint department.

“This new design experience puts color front and center,” explained Rich Lynch, Vice President of Marketing for Do it Best Corp. “The Color Bar provides consumers and store employees an opportunity to develop a greater confidence in color while selecting the right product for their painting project with every visit. And, by making The Color Bar scalable, flexible and very affordable, our members can implement it in their stores with confidence as well.”

With 12 different components centered on brand-specific color selectors for Do it Best Quality Paints, Pratt & Lambert and Valspar, The Color Bar provides the co-op’s members with a fully branded space, regardless of store size or layout. These in-store areas are all designed to drive conversations among consumers, increasing their color awareness while building their confidence.

The Color Bar’s flexibility also enables store owners to maintain an ongoing focus on both seasonal- and community-based color trends. In addition, its three scaled floor plans allow members to quickly implement the program for both new installations as well as retrofits to existing paint fixtures.

“When it comes to paint, consumer tastes and trends can change quickly, and The Color Bar empowers our members to adapt just as quickly,” Lynch added. “We know the brick-and-mortar experience is still the key driver in this category, and The Color Bar now sets the standard for an exceptional in-store experience for our members across the industry.”

Do it Best Corp. has already partnered with several of its members to install prototypes of The Color Bar at select locations, and the program is available to all co-op members effective immediately.
