Ohio lumberyard celebrates 100th anniversary

By / September 25, 2018

A Canfield, Ohio lumberyard is celebrating 100 years in business this week. Bernard-Daniels Lumber and Home Center is holding three days of customer appreciation events in honor of its century mark.

Bernard-Daniels Lumber Company was founded in 1918 by Ben Bernard. The company was originally located in Youngstown Ohio. After a fire in 1979, the lumberyard was moved to Canfield.

The lumberyard houses more than 103,000 square feet of indoor storage space on five acres, and features a drive-through lumberyard. The company operates a closeout window and door warehouse, as well as a retail hardware store and showroom.

Owner Tom Paranzino purchased the business in 2005, when he was approached as an auctioneer for his liquidation services. Instead of auctioning off the company, he purchased it and has grown it to produce between $7 million and $10 million in annual sales, according to the Business Journal of Youngstown, Ohio.
