Platinum GPS Insulation
Insulfoam Introduces Platinum GPS Insulation with Higher R-Values than other Rigid Foam Insulations
Further enhancing the performance of expanded polystyrene (EPS) rigid foam insulation, Insulfoam introduces Platinum graphite polystyrene (GPS) insulation. GPS is a new class of insulation made with BASF’s Neopor, a rigid foam that integrates high-purity graphite into the polymer matrix. The result is insulation with insulating R-values that increase as the temperature decreases.
Easily recognized by its silver/gray color, Insulfoam Platinum GPS insulation offers similar performance as extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation, but is more affordable, and with stable long-term R-values and exceptional vapor permeability, making it a breathable insulation.
“Insulfoam Platinum is a distinctive insulation with superior performance, and can lead to a 10 – 25% material cost savings compared to XPS insulations,” said Ram Mayilvahanan, Director of Marketing for Insulfoam. “It takes the positive attributes of EPS and makes an even better product with a higher R-value for the same thickness, making it ideal for use in space constrained areas.”
The new insulation will be available in a range of options, including InsulWall Platinum (un-faced) and R-Tech Platinum (faced). The family of products provides insulation suitable for a range of residential and commercial wall applications, including:
- • Wall sheathing systems
- • Continuous insulation
- • Exterior Insulation and Finishing Systems (EIFS) and stucco systems
- • Pre-cast or tilt-up walls
- • Retrofit/remodel
- • Structural insulated panels (SIPs)
