Thermory® Thermo-Treated Wood Decking
Thermory Decking is made from American Ash, harvested from sustainably-managed North American forests. Harder than red oak, Ash is the wood species used to make baseball bats. Harnessing a 15-year-old European technology, Thermory Decking is made with a process that uses only heat and steam (no chemicals). First heated to approximately 400 degrees to reduce the wood’s moisture content, it is then equalized at a 6% moisture content by adding steam. According to the company, the process rearranges the cell structure to reduce movement related to moisture, removes wood sugars for increased durability against rot and insects, and changes color to an exotic brown through the full thickness of the wood. The color can be maintained with a UV protectant oil, or allowed to naturally age to a silver/gray color. www.ThermoryUSA.com
